I'm going through some materials for sponsor pitches on the 2012 race, and I
stumbled across this quote from 2010 Untamed New England racer Keith
Ash:
"This was one of the best courses we have been on in the
East Coast. It was a navigator's delight. There were so many part of
the course we appreciated from deep woods navigation to the epic paddles
with some portaging in-between to make it interesting. We also liked
the unique Easter Eggs like the waterfall climb, paddling through rapids
in the dark and the conservation projects where you have blended
"giving back to the community " into the race -- it shows the locals
that we fully appreciate the land they have the opportunity to live
around. You also made this course hard enough to challenge the best
teams, while providing an equally challenging course to mid pack teams.
Overall, I would describe this race as 2 parts epic and 1 part
suffering. But I guess that is what we love. Thanks again to you and
your team for all your time and effort. I hope everyone enjoyed it as
much as we did!"
Here's a photo of Keith in action at the course last year:
Thanks Keith, the check is in the mail!
